Greetings From Poznan, Poland!
Poznan is one of the largest and oldest cities in Poland. Situated half way between Warsaw and Berlin, it combines a unique heritage with rich culture, history and lively atmosphere. This is the very place where Polish statehood was born in the 10th century on the Cathedral Island. Next to the oldest cathedral you can find Porta Posnania, a state of the art multimedia center and interactive display presenting the fascinating history from the beginning of Polish statehood.
Among the must-see attractions you will find Stary Rynek (the Old Market Square). With its magnificent Renaissance Town Hall and Billy goats it remains the city’s biggest attraction since the 16th century.
Poznan might also surprise you. You will see an enormous medieval-like castle, which in fact is the youngest castle in Europe, built in the early 20th century for german emperor Wilhelm II.
“Stary Browar” (old brewery) no longer produces beer. It has become a shopping, art, and business center. In 2006 it was awarded as the Best Medium Size shopping center in the world.
One of Poznan’s many strong points is its distinctive, regional cuisine. It will please the gourmands’ palates
as well. More than 60 restaurants are recommended by the Polish edition of the prestigious international Gault & Millau Yellow Guide. Last but certainly not least you MUST try a St. Martin Croissant, which is a famous local specialty. Check out this picture from our private demonstration for making St. Martin’s croissant. It was extra special because we did this on St. Martin’s Day! STAY TUNED! I will share some more information about this special croissant soon!
