Guests can also partake in kayaking, paddle boarding, catamaran sailing, kitesurfing, local cultural adventures, and jungle tours. The resort believes in respecting the environment, so guests may notice the emphasis that was placed on preserving the natural landscape. “The landscaping was designed around the mangrove plants with respect to the wetlands, and special engineering throughout the grounds keeps the water moving to preserve wildlife in the mangrove,” says Nicholas Dominguez, the chief operating officer at Hamak Hotels. All water used on property comes from a system that produces and recycles all the water at the resort. Wastewater is treated and used for irrigation. Pathways around the resort were designed to limit vehicles and Chablé Maroma is proud to be a plastic-free resort.
THE HEALING PATH
In keeping with Chablé Maroma’s motto, “Redefining Wellness,” the resort features an impressive adults only, 17,000-squarefoot spa. The spa has two single spa rooms, five double treatment rooms, eight massage rooms, a hydrotherapy room, plunge pool, a Jacuzzi and steam room. A fitness center has the latest Technogym equipment. The treatment menu is inspired by nature to honor the Mayan restoration tradition by harmonizing techniques and ingredients developed by science to restore and nurture the soul, as well as the body. Dominguez says that “Each treatment is created to take guests on a spiritual journey, where the experience is more than just about a massage, but also about the mind and soul.” One unique treatment offered to guests is the Temazcal Ritual. A temazcal is a small domed sauna that hosts a ceremony with the help of a trained Temazcalero. This ceremony’s intention is to get closer to nature and the inner self. The Deep Forest Awakening is a 180-minute Chablé signature ritual treatment that draws support and nourishment from trees in order to create positive change in the body, mind, and spirit. This full-body purification treatment reinvigorates and stimulates the skin’s own regeneration with rosemary and re-mineralizing sea salt. The lymphatic system is cleansed with purifying essential oils from balsam fir, juniper, and cypress trees. A deep connective tissue massage will aid in relaxing the body and warmed gem stones will help to destress. The treatment ends with a signature aromatic anointment with oils of citrus and frankincense to promote enlightening and enlivening. The 120-minute Floral Adornment Ritual features a combination of herbal preparations, floral elixirs, and traditional remedies. A specially designed skin treatment is created from a blend of clay, coffee, and tobacco to exfoliate and nourish the skin. Next, a mix of flower petals and oils of arnica, rosemary, basil, and laurel combine to create an aromatic blend that is known to ease pain, boost circulation, and diminish inflammation. Afterwards, a stone massage helps release toxins and stagnant energy as well as promote grounded stability. At the end of this exclusive treatment, a rejuvenating facial helps to restore balance and vitality.
